The Public Service Commission (PSC) has announced that the 2026 Administrative Officers’ Examination will be conducted in April, calling on eligible officers to register ahead of the March deadline.
In a notice signed by PSC Secretary and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Paul Famba to public officers, the Commission said the examination will run from April 13 to April 17, 2026. Specific examination centres will be communicated to candidates after registration.
The examination targets serving Administrative Officers seeking confirmation and career progression within the public service. It forms part of the Commission’s broader mandate to reform and professionalise the public service in line with its vision of building a citizen-centred public service.

To qualify for registration, an officer must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences from a recognised university, have successfully completed the mandatory induction course, and have served as an Administrative Officer for at least six (6) months.
First-time candidates are required to submit certified copies of their appointment letters, national identity cards, academic certificates and evidence of having attended an induction course lasting at least one month. They must also provide two coloured passport-size photographs on a white background. Candidates who were previously referred will only be required to attach two passport-size photographs.
All first-time candidates are expected to fill Registration Form A, while referred candidates will complete Form B. The forms are available through the PSC website.
Candidates must submit their duly completed forms together with a Government copy of the e-Citizen payment receipt to the Secretary/Chief Executive Officer, Public Service Commission, P.O. Box 30095-00100, Nairobi, so as to reach the Commission no later than March 13, 2026, by 5.00 p.m.

The registration fee stands at KSh 3,500 as a basic charge, KSh 875 per paper for the eight examinable papers, and an additional KSh 50 e-Citizen access fee. The Commission has indicated that candidates must attempt all eight papers during their first sitting.
Registration is being conducted exclusively through the e-Citizen platform. Applicants are required to log into the PSC portal via psc.ecitizen.go.ke, select PSC examinations, complete the online application process, select their examination centre and subjects where applicable, and await approval before making payment. Approval notifications will be sent through the applicant’s e-Citizen profile and via SMS.
