The Principal Secretary of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Susan Mang’eni has attended the opening of the KCPE and KPSEA exam containers in Amagoro, Busia County.
Addressing the press at the Deputy County Commissioner’s offices in Teso North Sub County, Mang’eni extended her best wishes to the candidates from the county and Western region.
“The KCPE and KPSEA exams, meant for standard eight and Grade six students, respectively, serve as a validation of their educational journey over the past eight and six years,” she emphasized.
Furthermore, the PS noted that the State Department of Basic Education has taken measures to address potential issues like flooding, particularly in the Budalang’i region.
She also urged schools to strictly adhere to the government’s guidelines, emphasizing that cheating not only undermines the students’ careers but also erodes trust in the education system.
As part of her visit, the PS also toured Kakurikit Primary School, which had recently suffered damage due to heavy winds.
The County Director of Education, James Ekaliyo, disclosed that a total of 31,500 candidates were sitting for the KCPE exams, with an additional 30,780 candidates taking the KPSEA exams across the county.

He urged school authorities to allow any KPSEA candidates whose names were omitted from the nominal roll or faced registration issues to sit for the exams.
County Commissioner Kipchumba Ruto stressed that the government had taken extensive measures to ensure the secure distribution of exam papers, even in challenging terrains.
Also in attendance were the County Quality Assurance and Standards Officer William Makori, Teso North Sub County Director of Education Elizabeth Marangach, Teso North DCC Stemphen Wambura, and senior county police officers.
