Principal Secretary for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Esther Muoria, led government efforts to boost agricultural innovation and skills development on August 14, 2025, during the launch of the Kantaria Agricultural and Innovation Centre (KATIC) at the University of Nairobi’s Upper Kabete Campus.
The centre is expected to serve as a hub for knowledge sharing, research, and capacity building, bringing together academia, industry, and local communities to transform how Kenya produces, processes, and markets food.
PS Muoria emphasised the importance of equipping young people with industry-relevant, hands-on training in modern agricultural technologies.
She said such skills would not only tackle unemployment but also strengthen food security. She called for stronger partnerships between training institutions and the private sector to ensure that students are prepared for real-world challenges.

KATIC will be a collaborative platform for innovation, where students, researchers, and entrepreneurs can test solutions and develop technologies to advance Kenya’s agricultural sector.
