University Education and Research PS Dr Beatrice Inyangala addresses graduands at Meru University of Science and Technologys 10th graduation ceremony in March 2023

Graduating students have been urged to embrace innovation and adaptability as they prepare to enter an increasingly unpredictable global economy.

Principal Secretary (PS) for Higher Education and Research Beatrice Inyangala, speaking during the Technical University of Kenya (TU-K) graduation ceremony on March 31, 2026, said academic qualifications alone are no longer sufficient.

She said success in today’s job market will depend on the ability to apply knowledge practically, solve emerging challenges and adjust to rapid changes in the global workforce.

“The future demands graduates who are innovative, adaptable, and ready to contribute solutions to society.”

Inyangala challenged graduates to move beyond traditional job-seeking mindsets and position themselves as creators of opportunities.

She said the Ministry of Education is prioritising accountability in university funding, with a focus on ensuring investments translate into measurable institutional value.

Programmes, she added, must align with national development goals and international standards.
