The Basic Education Principal Secretary, PS Prof Julius Bitok has assured support for the landslide affected candidates in Elgeyo Marakwet of full support as the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) written examinations commences today Monday .
PS Prof. Bitok, who supervised the opening of an examination container in Westlands, Nairobi, said that the government has created contingency measures to ensure affected candidates can sit their exams without disruption.
“We have made arrangements for displaced learners and are working closely with authorities on the ground to relocate candidates to safe areas and offer support,” Bitok stated.
He added that psychological assistance is also part of the response plan.
Bitok also affirmed that the government is ready to administer the national tests smoothly and securely, adding that the Ministry of Education, together with security agencies and examination officials, has put in place sufficient measures to safeguard the integrity of the examinations.

“We are fully prepared, and all necessary systems have been deployed to ensure a fair and credible examination process,” he said.
The Ministry reiterated its commitment to maintaining examination integrity, with multi-agency teams deployed nationwide to curb malpractice and ensure candidates sit their exams under secure conditions.
The KCSE examinations will continue over the coming weeks, with results for 996,078 candidates expected early next year.
