JKUAT TVET institute is in the process of formalizing recognition of its additional five programmes following the assessment of the programs by the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA) against the set standards and guidelines which was carried out on February 19, 2025.
The assessment was conducted in response to the increasing demand for TVET courses, highlighting the need for more specialized programs to meet better the evolving requirements of both the industry and students.
The TVETA team’s visit, which followed a similar assessment conducted on October 31, 2022, focused on the accreditation of Level 6 (Diploma) programmes, including Health Records and Information Technology, Community Health, Construction Management, Cyber Security, and Computer Science.

The assessment featured constructive discussions, emphasizing a shared commitment to academic excellence. It also highlighted the programmes’ strengths and opportunities for further improvement.
The TVETA team included Janice K. Bogita, Senior Outreach Services Officer; Japheth Ngeno, Assistant Director, Accreditation; and Mohamed Bonaya, SHRMOL, HRM.
JKUAT Management representatives included the Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Academic Affairs, Prof Robert Kinyua; the Chair of the JKUAT TVET Institute Board; and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Research, Production, and Extension, Prof Jackson Kwanza; Principal, Karen Campus, Prof Hellen Mberia; and Director of the JKUAT TVET Institute, Dr Fridah Simba.
