Professionals encourage learners to go for marketable careers

Professionals from South Mugirango constituency in Kisii County have resolved to support education development by encouraging students to take careers that are attractive to the job market and that are internationally recognized.

Led by their Chairman Mr. Wilfred Okemwa, the Bogirango Maate Professional Association said that the world has become a global village and advised that those who are well educated are the only ones to be favored.

“Our children should be encouraged to take their academics to the top notch by working hard in the pursuit of their careers,” he said.

The professionals who met at Kisii town to Celebrate and appreciate the elevation of Prof. Kibwage into Vice Chancellor of Egerton University, thanked the government for the good gesture adding that the Professor was equal to the task.

“He worked for it and was placed at the right position at the opportune time,” said Dr. Kefa Ombacho.

The Professionals promised to check the villages in their constituency to meet promising students especially those who performed well in sciences to motivate them into becoming young scientist.

They cited Prof. Wilfred Okemwa of Pwani University, who was encouraged to take science subjects since his childhood where he ended up being a world a claimed winner of the Nobel Prize in oceanography.

“He is one of our own but now he is owned and prized by the world because of his quality education,” said Peter Ragira, a member of the professional team.

During the meeting that was filled with academic chats and insights, the professionals raised sh.1 million as seed money to support the young scientist from the area.

The meeting was graced by Elastus Sorobi Moturi, a radio presenter in a local radio station and lecturer at Kenya Institute of Mass Communication.

In his closing remarks, Moturi who was the master of ceremony, thanked the professionals and reminded them to encourage students to take mass media courses, adding that it is one of the promising careers especially during this era where the media has gone digital.
