Most of them have established facilities to support one or more of the CBC pathways — Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), Social Sciences, and Arts and Sports Science.

This list is provisional, reflecting schools that have commenced the implementation of Grade 10 as part of the early CBC rollout with more institutions expected to join as the Ministry of Education continues to evaluate infrastructure readiness, staffing capacity, and pathway compliance across both private and public schools.

In Nairobi County, schools such as Mutunguni Academy, Parklands Baptist, Sigona High School, Rockfields Senior, and Thika Road Christian High School have begun implementing Grade 10. Others in the metropolitan region include Brookshine, Makela Senior School, and Kijani Senior School.

A number of private institutions are offering all three pathways, demonstrating full readiness for the CBC Senior School model. These include Brookshine Senior School, County Girls Senior School Chuka, Merishaw Senior School, Skyline School Kikuyu, Acacia Crest Senior School, St. Elizabeth Academy, and Mutunguni Academy. Such schools have diversified their infrastructure to support laboratory-based STEM instruction, project-driven social science inquiry, and performance spaces for creative and sporting disciplines.

Schools with the complete three-pathway model are regarded as early benchmarks of CBC compliance. Their preparedness is shown in upgraded laboratories, studios, and art workshops designed to accommodate diverse learner interests.

Many have incorporated mentorship programs and co-curricular training to complement classroom-based competency development.

Under the Competency-Based Curriculum, Senior School education is divided into three pathways designed to nurture learners’ talents, skills, and career aspirations. The STEM pathway emphasises innovation, problem-solving, and applied sciences through subjects such as physics, biology, chemistry, computer science, and engineering technology.

The Arts and Sports Science pathway focuses on performance, creative expression, and physical development through fine arts, theatre, design, and sports specialisation.

In contrast, the Social Sciences pathway concentrates on humanities, business studies, and community-oriented learning. The structure allows students to pursue areas aligned with their individual strengths and interests, moving beyond traditional examination-based learning.

The list also shows that several institutions are currently running two pathways as they prepare to expand infrastructure for full CBC implementation. This phased approach allows them to build specialised facilities progressively while maintaining alignment with Ministry of Education requirements.

The rollout of Grade 10 in private schools demonstrates preparedness for the CBC Senior School phase. It provides early models for curriculum implementation ahead of the broader public-school transition.
