Private schools seek views ahead of presenting report to CBC review taskforce

By Fredrick Odiero

The Kenya Private Schools Association (KPSA) has stated that it is preparing its members to forward its recommendations to the Presidential Working Party on Education Reforms.

Speaking in Kisumu during a meeting to brief Nyanza Regional caucus members on the current state of affairs, Association Chairman Charles Ochome who is also Golden Elites Academy Director said that what was of concern to members was how transition to Junior Secondary Schools will be executed.

Ochome said that the issue of sufficient classrooms was also a concern given the congestion experienced in some schools.

The Chairman also said that they would issue recommendations on pertinent issues concerning tertiary, basic and Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) levels of education.

Ochome however warned against politicizing the issue saying politicians’ views in rallies do not represent the views of parents at the end of the day.

He particularly wondered why some leaders had been claiming that CBC was very expensive yet the government had not directed parents to buy the items.

In attendance were KPSA members from Kisumu, Kisii, Nyamira, Siaya and Migori.
