Private schools in Kericho County continued their dominance in the 2021 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations.
At Chemitan Academy in Litein, the leading students is Fiona Chemutai who obtained 420 marks followed by Ezra Kipruto who scored 419 marks while Gracia Chepkemoi took third position with 418 marks.
The head teacher Mr. Robert Bett said the academy had 55 candidates and managed to attain an impressive mean of 402.
At the St. Theresa School Kipchimchim, Caren Cherotich led with 418 marks followed by Frank Kimutai Korir who got 417 and third was Emmanuel Kiprono Yegon with 415 marks.
At the Progresive ChepChep School, the leading student managed 419 while at Hekima Academy in Kipsitet, the lead student got 412. Chumo Academy managed a mean of 385.
In some of the public schools like Simotwo the leading student had 408. There was pomp and celebration at little known Keongo Primary School when Sammary Chepkoech managed to lead with 400 marks.
An overjoyed Sammary could not hide her joy as she narrated how she worked hard to attain the marks.
“I work hard and prayed to God to guide me. I also heeded what my teachers and parents advised me to do,” she said.
The head teacher Mr. Daniel Magoha congratulated the young girl for the good performance saying she had cleared a path for the others.
Former Energy CS Charles Keter, who visited the home of Sammary promised to pay the school fees for the bright child whose father is the watchman at the same school.
Second placed at Keongo was Audry Chemutai who managed 379.
