Winners Premier Academy. a private school in Bomet County has launched a free football training programme targeting young boys in Grade 3 to Grade 9, in a move aimed at strengthening grassroots football development within the county.

The initiative seeks to identify, nurture and guide emerging talent at an early age, especially among learners who may lack access to structured sports training.

According to the organiser, the training sessions will take place every Saturday starting from February 14 to March 14, 2026, at the academy’s school field.

The activities will run from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, providing participants with consistent and organized football instruction over the one-month period.

According to the Winners Premier Academy Director Patrick Bii, the programme is part of the academy’s long-term vision to support youth development through sports.

“Our goal is to spot football talent early and provide proper coaching that helps young players grow both on and off the field,” Bii noted.

He added that football can play a key role in shaping discipline, confidence and teamwork among young learners.

“The sessions will be conducted by qualified and experienced coaches, focusing on core football fundamentals such as ball control, passing, positioning, and game awareness,” he said.

In addition to technical skills, the programme will emphasize discipline, teamwork, football intelligence, and positive values essential for personal development.

The free training programme is open to learners from any school within Bomet county, with both registration and participation offered at no cost.

Bii said the parents and guardians are required to accompany their children and ensure they attend sessions dressed in full sports attire for safety and comfort.

He stated that the initiative also aims to promote healthy living, sportsmanship, and responsible behavior among young athletes.

“By offering early exposure and structured coaching, the academy hopes to create opportunities for talented players to progress into competitive football at local, regional, and national levels,” said the director.

The programme reflects Winners Premier Academy’s continued commitment to youth empowerment and the growth of grassroots sports in the region.
