Principals have been urged to prioritise the welfare of learners in their respective institutions.
“When the welfare of the learners is taken care of, learning will be smooth,” said Evans Onyancha, the Kipkomo Sub County Director of Education.
The welfare of learners includes facilities such as desks and lockers in the school, sufficient beds in the Dormitory, and quality food.
In addition, he also asked the schools’ stakeholders not to exert excessive pressure on principals to produce results, as this sometimes leads to exam malpractice.
Furthermore, he also asked the principals to be aware of the Grade 10 pathway and reiterated that Mathematics is a compulsory subject.

Onyancha made those remarks during the World Catholic Education Day, held on May 31, 2025, at St. Cecilia Girls Secondary School, Chepareria.
Bishop Henry Juma Odonya of the Catholic Diocese of Kitale praised teachers for their good work.
Bishop Emeritus Maurice Anthony Crowley asked students to work hard in school.
He further asked all the school stakeholders to work as a team.
