Nicholas Mwilu, the project director at Kitonga Mwilu Foundation, has urged principals to stop sending students home for school fees.
Speaking at Masongaleni area in Kibwezi East in Makueni County while issuing out bursaries to 300 students, Mwilu admitted that despite the fact that schools cannot run without money, sending students home at a time when national exams are approaching will contribute to individual poor performance as well as poor performance of the schools.

“Principals should agree with parents on the modes of paying fees. The parents should also honor their promises so that learners stay in school,’ Mwilu said.
The director’s passion for education saw him establish his own foundation to help the needy. He has so far issued bursaries to about 1,500 needy students.
Some parents from the area claimed that government bursaries benefit very few students and argued that more needy students should be considered for the bursaries.
