Nyanza Regional Co-ordinator of Education Chepkawai Limo has counseled principals in the region to be innovative and establish viable income-generating activities in their respective schools to help them meet their financial challenges.
Limo noted that the Ministry of Education is ready to support ventures under the STEM programme.
“Please as you go back to your work stations, consider exploiting avenues of coming up with income-generating activities and inform us so that we are able to support your innovations and even take over the projects to your advantage,” said Limo. He made the remarks when he addressed Kisii and Siaya Counties KESSHA conferences in Kisumu where he also advised principals to work round the clock and ensure ICT integration in their schools and not wait for the Government roll out programmes.
Limo appeal to the principals to keep updating the data on NEMIS since the next capitation for schools will rely on the data on NEMIS.
“Make all the relevant adjustments on NEMIS because the Ministry has ensured the portal is still active, just make all student transfers procedural and legal so that you don’t fall on the wrong side of the law,” advised Limo.
The regional education co-ordinator also advised principals who have been transferred in the ongoing delocalisation process to accept and move on since the move aims at improving efficiency in service delivery. In the latest delocalization process 30 principals from Kisii County have been moved.
