Principals face demotion in worst performing schools

By Enock Okong’o

Principals in Kenyenya Sub County whose schools continue to perform dismally in the national examinations will be demoted.
Kenyenya Sub County Education Director, Anthony Barasa said the school heads must ensure high standards of education in the area.
Principals blaming the local NG-CDF offices for not supporting them to improve the infrastructure were told to focus on improving their school performance.
Barasa was talking to parents, teachers and students of Nyakorere Secondary School during a general meeting to forge the way forward for better performance.
He was accompanied by Prof Zadoc Ogutu.
School Principal Jackson Okeyo narrated how some parents had made it difficult for him to administer discipline in the school.
A parent once invaded the school brandishing a panga as he bayed for the blood of the principal who had refused to release his daughter to go home to assist in taking tea leaves to the buying centre.
Nyakorere Secondary School was ranked last in Kenyenya Sub County among 45 schools in the 2017 national examinations.
It registered a mean score of 1. 86. The leading school in Kisii County Riokindo Boys’ school had a mean score of 8.7.
