Lelagoin Secondary School, one of Narok County’s top-performing high schools, has been thrown into an administrative shake-up as its principal is placed on compulsory leave over suspected malpractice during the ongoing Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams.
According to the school, the interdiction letter was written on November 2, 2025, and delivered to the principal today. The immediate action has seen the deputy principal assume full responsibility for overseeing both academic and administrative operations during the exam period. The swift handover is intended to ensure that the exams proceed smoothly and without further disruptions.
Narok County Director of Education, Apollo Apuko, confirmed the suspension but did not name the principal or the school, citing ongoing investigations.
“He was not working in accordance with the regulations that were set, and therefore the Deputy Principal will take over and run the examinations until they end,” Apuko said.
Lelagoin Secondary School has long been celebrated for its strong academic performance, making the suspension a significant event in the county’s education sector.
The officials emphasized that adherence to examination rules is critical for maintaining credibility, regardless of a school’s past achievements.
The deputy principal is expected to maintain strict oversight throughout the KCSE exams, ensuring transparency and fairness in all processes.
The parents and students have been reassured that the principal will return at the start of the next academic term, once the investigations are concluded.
