Primary school teacher murders retired colleague

Homa

A 47-year-old primary school teacher Elijah Wanjohi has murdered a 65-year-old retired colleague in Kianjege village, Ndia, Kirinyaga County.

Reportedly, the suspect contacted his elder sister in the morning, urging her to take him to the Kianjege police post, revealing that he had killed his friend, Caxton Mbuthia.

Accompanied by police officers, Wanjohi led his relatives to his compound, where they discovered Mbuthia’s lifeless body in a pool of blood.

Residents, bewildered by the tragedy, expressed disbelief that Wanjohi, known to be friends with the deceased, could commit such an act.

The incident unfolded after the two, along with another companion, shared drinks at Kianjege shopping centre.

Around 2 am, as they left the local bar, Mbuthia opted to accompany Wanjohi home.

The motive behind the shocking act remains unclear.

Wanjohi’s sister revealed that her brother had undergone rehabilitation for alcohol abuse three months ago, hoping for a positive change.

However, the disturbing incident has left the community grappling with the unexpected violence.

Ndia sub-county police commander Moses Koskei reported that Wanjohi used a fork jembe to inflict fatal injuries on Mbuthia.

Wanjohi is now in custody at Baricho police station, undergoing interrogation, while Mbuthia’s body awaits a post-mortem examination at Karatina Hospital mortuary.
