Primary school heads challenged to embrace IT

By Fredrick Odiero

Primary School heads from Eastern region have been called upon to be tech savvy as the digital age was fast becoming mainstream hence the need for teachers to conform.

Area Director of Education Mr William Sugut who was speaking in Kisumu at the end of the Kenya Primary School Headteachers Association (KEPSHA) Eastern Chapter, said that the days when teachers used to go to cyber cafes for services are long gone.

“I feel for the many teachers who have fallen prey to fraudsters after leaving vital documents in cyber cafes,” he said.

Furthermore, the Director urged teachers accept the Competence Based Curriculum (CBC) citing its advantages to the pupils and the society at large.

“CBC motivates teachers and students to be very creative to find solutions to problems in and out of the class,” he added.

Sugut later on called upon head teachers to exercise prudent use of resources at their respective working stations as government policy dictates.

While concluding, Mr Sugut implored school heads to collaborate with stakeholders for the sake of efficient service delivery.
