A detailed postmortem examination at Kapkatet Hospital in Kericho county has laid bare the grim circumstances of 12-year-old Emmanuel Kimutai’s death, providing medical clarity and intensifying calls for justice.

Pathologists reported that Emmanuel died primarily due to lack of oxygen caused by severe chest congestion, which restricted normal breathing.

Further examination revealed extensive internal injuries: a ruptured blood vessel led to bleeding in the brain (a fatal hemorrhage), while his spleen showed signs of trauma and severe damage.

Doctors said the combination of head injury, respiratory failure and internal organ damage created a “fatal cascade” that could not be reversed.

Emmanuel, was a grade six pupil at Chebugon Primary School in Rongena-Manaret Ward, Bomet County, had been preparing to attend his school’s Prayer Day on Friday, September 12 , a milestone event for pupils gearing up for national examinations.
