Friends School Poroko reaffirmed their dominance in school rugby after successfully defending both the boys’ and girls’ titles during the Narok County Secondary Schools Term Two Games, which concluded on Friday, June 20, 2025, at Narok Boys High School grounds.
In a thrilling boys’ final, Poroko, from Transmara West sub-county, outclassed hosts Narok Boys 19-7, showing tactical superiority and great composure under pressure. Their girls’ team followed suit with a commanding 49-0 victory over Mogoyuet Secondary School, capping off a perfect campaign for the Transmara-based powerhouse.
Boys’ head coach Fred ‘Mzalendo’ Machoka lauded his players for their discipline and execution of tactics, saying the title was the fruit of hard work and commitment.
“This win is a result of months of preparation and sacrifice. Narok Boys gave us a tough match, but our boys showed mental toughness and stuck to the plan,” said Machoka.
“We now shift focus to the regionals. We’ll need to polish areas like our kicking game and ball handling. We expect more physical and tactical battles in Uasin Gishu.”
Girls’ team tactician Esther Ogembo was full of praise for her squad’s unity and hunger for victory.
“We came here with one goal—to defend our title. These girls have trained consistently and play with heart. I’m proud of how they responded on the big stage,” she said.

She added: “At the regionals, we’ll face tougher opposition, but we’re not afraid. We’re going to give it our best and aim for nationals.”
School principal Titu Musyoki celebrated the historic double victory and pledged the school’s continued support as the teams prepare for the Rift Valley Regional Games.
“We are committed to nurturing all-around excellence. These results show what is possible when academics and sports are balanced. As a school, we’ll support these teams fully—whether it’s training gear, time, or mentorship,” he said.
With these victories, Friends School Poroko will now represent Narok County at the Rift Valley Regional Secondary School Games, scheduled for July 15-20 in Uasin Gishu County. The teams head to the regionals not just as county champions, but as serious contenders with eyes firmly set on national qualification.
