Nyamira County and Referral Hospital where the body of the boy has been lying for two weeks now.

One family in Nyamira County has appealed to the government to assist them to bury their child whose body has remained in Nyamira County and Referral Hospital mortuary for two weeks now.

According to the deceased’s father Alfred Mang’era, his Grade 6 son committed suicide for unknown reasons and was taken to Nyamira Hospital mortuary for preservation and postmortem.

His wife Lydiah Mang’era described the deceased as a polite boy but wondered why he decided to take his life.

“He looked very jovial in the evening after supper and went to their hut but we were stunned to find his body dangling from the ceiling of the roof,” she said.

She narrated how misfortune has been dogging the family and asked for the church to pray for God’s divine intervention.

The perplexed mother said that her Grade 8 daughter disappeared from home three months ago and her whereabouts are not known to date.

“We have not heard about her and we are worried if she is alive,” added the mournful father.

The area chief who talked to Education News asked parents to monitor the movements of their children and guide them against peer influence.

He asked parents and teachers to engage children in constructive conversations especially during the weekends to guard against evil influences.
