As the 9th August polls approach, Kisii County politicians have focused on seeking votes from teachers.
In South Mugirango Constituency, the incumbent MP Sylvanus Osoro met all teachers from Moticho zone and asked them to re-elect him in the coming elections.
“I have walked with you for five years by supporting education and equipping your schools with modern buildings and buses, now it is your turn to scratch my back,” he said.
He promised to collaborate with them complete the education projects he had initiated if elected back in office.
In both Kitutu Chache North and South Constituencies, the former finance Minister Chris Obure met with teachers’ leaders and promised to give top priority to education and education projects in his government if elected.
“I know teachers are intelligent people, I will make sure to give them priority when handing out appointments,” he promised.
Chris Obure who was flanked by his running mate Mr. Eillism Mbaka and the Kisii County senatorial aspirant Omingo Magara said that he will make prudent use of the government money to invest more in education as a foundation for development.
While addressing ECDE teachers, Kisii County gubernatorial aspirant Simba Arati lamented on the poor state of ECDE classrooms in the county.
He said that if elected, his government will construct modern ECDE classrooms with music systems and TVs to create desirable environment for the tender learners.
Arati said that he had already purchased 140 TV sets for the pilot phase that he will distribute to a few schools for kids to watch educational films and cartoons.
