A politician has called on the national government to consolidate all bursaries before distributing them to schools.

North Imenti parliamentary seat aspirant Carol Muriuki, also known as “CK,” urged the government to consolidate all bursary funds from various political offices in a bid to eliminate duplication, where a student benefits from more than one source.

She said that if the bursaries are consolidated in a central location, it will enhance access to free education for all, as all deserving learners will benefit.

CK challenged Members of Parliament to initiate the drafting of a bill that would centralise the bursary kitties, arguing that this move would relieve parents of the financial burden associated with educating their children.

“I urge the government to consolidate all bursary funds to a central office in a bid to eliminate duplication and ensure all deserving learners benefit. If the bursaries are consolidated in a central place, it will enhance access to free education for all. I challenge all the MPs to draft a bill to centralise the bursaries,” said CK.

At the same time, she took a swipe at North Imenti MP Rahim Dawood, accusing him of evading responsibility for stalled road projects in the constituency.

“Whenever he’s questioned about certain roads, he claims they are under the county government, yet those are national government roads. He must stop shifting blame and take responsibility,” CK stated.
