Police in Machakos town are cracking their heads to unravel the mystery surrounding the death of a female Machakos University whose lifeless body was found in a ditch.
The first year student identified as Bryah Gechemba died on Thursday night in a ditch along Ilovia Street, a few metres from her residence.
According to Machakos Sub-county Police Commander Emmanuel Okanda, the girl had left her residence in Katoloni within Machakos town for supper and probably died on her way back.
“The girl had gone for supper in a certain hotel and died on the way. We have launched investigations into the incident,” said the police boss.
The incident was reported at Machakos Police Station as ‘a sudden death’ since the body had no visible injuries.
The body has been moved to Machakos Level 5 Hospital mortuary for preservation awaiting post-mortem.
