The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is probing the mysterious death of 12 year old, grade seven girl whose body was discovered dumped in a trench beside a road in KAA estate in Embakasi, Nairobi on Saturday morning.
According to eyewitnesses, the body had been tied up and appeared to have bruises on the face.
The body found naked and dumped near a busy pathway, was first spotted by children, who later alerted residents.
“We found the body lying naked, and there were some pieces of cloth just beside it. We documented the scene and moved the body to Nairobi Funeral Home,” said Embakasi Sub-County Criminal Investigations Officer Charity Sigilai.
The girl who was identified as Patience Mumbe, was found dead after she went missing for two days.
According to the family, they learnt of the death of their child after the discovery of the body via Facebook. They later confirmed the identification at the Nairobi Funeral Home on Sunday evening.
Joseph Malonza, the father to the deceased said that his daughter really past through severe pain, and called for quick investigation and justice to be served.

As the detectives continue with the investigation, the family has called upon; the governments to make sure their daughter’s killers are brought to book.
Residents have urged authorities to address the rising insecurity in Embakasi, saying similar incidents have occurred before, but little action has been taken to improve safety.
Henry Kibet, a resident who arrived at the scene shortly after the body was found, blamed the incident on persistent insecurity in the area, worsened by a lack of functional street lighting.
“This is not the first incident around here in Embakasi. Insecurity is a big issue in this area. There are no security lights despite other developments, like the roads. How do you construct a road in a residential area without also budgeting for security lights along it?” posed Kibet.
