The police in Kisii County have started investigations into the death of a primary school pupil who died today.
According to Dolphin Kemunto, mother of the deceased, she was called to report at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital to witness the treatment of her son.
“The headteacher called me to visit the hospital and witness the treatment of my son, but on arrival, I found his still body lying on a bed,” said the tearful mother.
Teachers from Mosocho Boys’ Primary School in Kitutu Chache South Constituency said that the Grade 6 pupil collapsed at the school and was rushed to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The hospital’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Marita Oimeke, confirmed the death but could not reveal the cause of the death.
“The body is preserved in our Hospital Mortuary as the police start an investigation,” he said.
Mrs Kerubo Kemunto appealed to the police to hurry the investigation and accord justice to the parents of the boy whose sudden death has shattered his family members’ hearts.

In another sad incident from the same Constituency, the police from Nyanchwa police station are looking for a suspected young mother who threw her infant in the latrine immediately after birth.
An eyewitness, a neighbour to the suspect at the Nyanchwa Estate rental houses, heard a person shouting for help from the latrine.
When she responded to the rescue, she found an infant thrown into the latrine and screamed for reinforcement to save the innocent, helpless victim.
“I removed a bed sheet from my room and gave it to the police to wrap the baby, whom they reclaimed alive from the pit latrine.”Said the woman who identified herself as Janet Moraa.
The suspect, reportedly a Form Three girl from the neighbouring school, ran away to a hideout to avoid being arrested by the police.
The baby was taken to Getembe Hospital, where it is undergoing treatment.
When this reporter visited the facility, he was cautioned against entering the infant’s incubator due to health reasons, but the authority stated that the child was doing well.
“It seems that the child suffered shock when it was thrown into the foreign world immediately after leaving its mother’s womb, but there are many chances of its survival.”Said the nurse in charge.
