Police in Kikuyu, Kiambu County are holding Nicholas Mutua Mutia, 34, following the gruesome murder of Jane Atila Quedeya, a University of Nairobi, Kikuyu Campus student.
This follows after the decomposed body of Atila, whose missing report was registered at Kikuyu Police Station on October 13, was found dumped in a thicket at Kefri Muguga Forest on Octerber 17, 2025.
According to the detectives, forensic fingerprint identification analysis conducted in liaison with the National Registration Bureau positively identified the body.
The police added that the preliminary investigations pointed that moment before her disappearance; Atila was in company of her estranged boyfriend Mutua.

The suspect was arrested and arraigned before Kikuyu law courts on October 25, where 21- days custodial orders were granted. Investigations continue with the miscellaneous application matter set for mention on November, 13.
This incident adds to the additional students’ murder cases which have increased recently, with the stakeholders pointing out at the mental health issues among young people who are unable to seek help when things get out of hand.
