Police launch investigations over Chuka University lecturer’s death

Police in Chogoria have launched an investigation into the death of Chuka University lecturer whose lifeless body was discovered in his apartment on August 5, 2024.

The lecturer, Shem Marangu was found dead in his house in the Kimuchia area after concerned villager noticed that the house was locked from the inside and alerted the neighbors, resulting in the discovery.

Neighbors are said to have alerted the police, who then broke into the house where the body was found in a sitting position, fully clothed. There were no visible injuries at the time of discovery.

The police have taken his body to the local mortuary, where a postmortem examination will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

The circumstances of his death are still unclear, and detectives are investigating whether he died from an illness or if it was a case of suicide.

Marangu was a lecturer in the Department of Humanities in the university where he worked for many years. He specialized in teaching Philosophy and Literature.

In addition to his teaching, Marangu was also involved in academic research. He published several papers that contributed to the fields of Literature and Philosophy, earning him recognition among his peers.

His work often explored complex themes and sought to deepen the understanding of human experiences through literature.
