Police in Ugunja rescue a girl accused of lesbianism from lynching

Police from Ugunja police division whisked away student from St Francis Rang’ala Girls High School after fellow students who accused her of forcing them to engage in lesbianism threatened to lynch her.

The girl had been re-admitted at the school following a court order. She had been expelled due to claims of lesbianism.

Ugunja deputy OCPD Sabina Kerubo said taken out of the school through a back gate and briefly held at the police station as her parents were summoned.

The school principal, Susan Owino, said there was an ongoing case involving the girl held by police.

During the disciplinary committee session, the parents were questioned whether their daughters were lesbians.

Apart from seeking damages, the parents wanted the school to avail time and resources to enable their daughters catch up.
