Residents of Kisii and Nyamira Counties have been urged to be wary about weather patterns in order to avoid dangers associated with sudden changes in weather conditions.
Kisii County Weather officer Henry Sese said calamities like flooding of rivers that sweep school children frequently in some parts of the country, droughts and strong winds can be evaded if the communities are sensitized about the same.
“We are living in a world of advanced technology that should assist us to focus on the future occurrences to enable us to live better.” He said.
The weather man said Kisii and Nyamira Counties will experience warm conditions with heavy downpours for two weeks in the last part of August.
He asked students of all levels especially those from University who are on holiday to make use of the expected heavy rains to plant more trees to increase forest cover in the country.
“Trees are a vital component in the environment by providing oxygen, improving air quality, climate amelioration, conserving water, preserving soil, and supporting wildlife.” He said
