A local pastor from Bogetunya Village, Kisii County has impregnated a school girl and ran away.
The young girl revealed that the pastor had taken her to his home two years ago while she continued her schooling.
However, when she became pregnant, she was forced to discontinue her education, eventually giving birth to a baby boy before returning to her family.
Last week, when the girl found herself unable to provide food for her child, villagers insisted on her returning to the pastor but he fled when he heard.
Local residents promptly reported the matter to Nyangusu police station, leading to an ongoing investigation.
The parents of the region decried the growing issue of child abuse and urgently called for Government intervention.
This incident follows closely on the heels of another arrest in the neighboring Isena village, where a man was apprehended for the alleged defilement of an 8-year-old grade five schoolgirl.
