Parents warned against allowing school children drive motorbikes

Bodaboda operators in Kathonzweni have warned parents for recklessly allowing their school-going children to drive motorbikes.

They said many accidents are being caused by school children who are assigned motorbikes by their parents to operate.

Bodaboda Chairman John Munyao Kathonzweni said they will be arresting any motorbike being operated by a school child.

“We will call police on them since many accidents are being caused by these children. It’s risking their lives and those of passengers. These children know nothing about traffic rules and they just drive recklessly,” added Munyao.

The chairman pointed out that it’s not bad to engage a child when in holiday but let the parents get other things to keep the children busy with, but not riding motorbikes.

He observed there are very small children who can’t even balance the machine well but are allowed by their parents to carry passengers.

“I’m also urging our customers, kindly don’t risk your life by riding on motorbikes operated by school going children even if they will not charge you,” said Munyao.
