Parents have been urged to exercise financial discipline during the festive season to avoid difficulties when schools reopen early next year. The caution comes from Frankmatt Supermarket proprietor Francis Maingi, who noted that many families overspend during Christmas and New Year celebrations, only to struggle with school-related expenses in January.
Speaking in Mumias during the launch of special offers across his two outlets in the town, Maingi said parents often forget the financial obligations that await them at the start of the year.
He warned that excessive festive spending leaves many households in a difficult position when it is time to pay school fees and purchase learning materials.

Maingi encouraged parents to take advantage of discounted prices on school-related items available at Frankmatt branches. He said the supermarket chain, which operates in Busia, Nambale, Mumias and Sabatia in Butere, has reduced prices on essential goods, including Frank gas cylinders for students joining tertiary institutions.
He emphasised that careful budgeting during the holiday season would help families avoid unnecessary financial strain and ensure a smooth transition when schools reopen.
