Parents urged to remain steadfast in guarding children against drug use

Parents in Embu County have been urged to take up full responsibility in fighting drug use amongst the students.

While addressing beneficiaries of Wings to Fly and Elimu programme sponsored by Equity Bank in upper Eastern in Embu Cunty, the Equity Bank Chief Executive Officer, James Mwangi said the family unit bares the biggest role in fighting drugs among the students.

Mwangi noted that both the government and private entities were investing much resource in education sector but stated that drug addiction by young people was jeopardizing the effort to build a society that is learned.

“There is one challenge that we need to confront as a society that is the national value system. When drug addiction by young people becomes an issue, it means the national values need to be improved,” said Mwangi.

He said the adults should act as role models for the young people and embrace good value a system that will suit the life of young people and not ruining the young people.

Mwangi further urged students in schools to utilize the opportunity they have in schools well to better their lives saying, Equity bank will continue supporting needy students to realize their dreams.
