Parents urged to help nurture their children’s talents

Teachers have urged parents to help nurture their children’s talents.
Over 40 teachers from nine counties said pupils at the age of 9 to 14 years need to be molded earlier before the adolescence stage knocks in.
Speaking at the end of a two-day workshop at Ukarimu Centre in Molo, Nakuru County during the School based Crime Prevention and Life Skills programme, the teachers said the programme enhances the learners to engage in use of technology to generate income and adding value to the children..
The Managing Director of the Resources Oriented Development Initiatives (RODI Kenya) Eliud Ngunjiri said the learners from specialised public and private schools are imparted with skills which help them to excel academically, have better leadership and good discipline.
Elphas Minyade from Daisy Special School in Kakamega County said since inception of the programme in 2006, many learners have been transformed to become future leaders.
He said the programme helps the pupils to learn more on food security, health and sanitation and raise performance appraisal.
