Kyuso Sub-county Director of Education Stephen Mulandi has called upon parents to be sober and control their emotions when solving school issues.
Speaking at his Kyuso office, Mulandi said the education officers are there to interpret policies on behalf of parents and teachers before intervening.
“Let’s not wait for the bitter end for you to start looking for solutions. It’s always good to sit and listen to the issues before they escalate and are out of hand. Some of the issues are very small and can easily be resolved if reported early,” he added.
Mulandi observed that currently there are two schools where parents took away their children without the knowledge of education office.
However, when they intervened, learning resumed at Gai Primary, while at Mitamisyi the 18 candidates who had been removed resumed learning as the problem is being solved.
“We can’t keep candidates out of school. The issue at Mitamisyi is that parents are against the school principal. At Gai, we had only one parent against the school head while the rest had no issue,” he added.
The sub-county director further added that Mitamisyi Secondary School principal is on the transfer matrix and the right action will be taken after national exams.
On the same note, he urged parents to be patient with the school heads since they are KNEC centre managers.
However, he said that all is set in the sub-county and they were preparations for the national examinations were on track.
