Suna West Member of Parliament has called on parents to put efforts towards remittance of School fees in time to help keep learners in school.

Hon. Peter Masara said that it is important to ensure learners spend more time in school noting that third term learning sessions are critical, especially for the candidates set to sit for their national exams in the coming two months.

While speaking to the Education News in Migori town, the legislator urged parents who may be faced with financial difficulties to make appointments with respective schools on school fee payment plans.

“To ensure our children are kept in school and their learning not disrupted by being sent home for school fees every moment, I wish to call on the parents to create time to talk to the administration and agree on the mode of paying school fees because I know the administrators will understand,” said the Parliamentarian.

Masara also called on candidates to remain focused in their academic activities to be able to achieve their goals rather than getting involved in issues which may divert their attention from worthy activities.

“If you have been given the chance to attend school, then you must ensure that you utilize every single opportunity to achieve your academic goals. It is therefore important especially for the candidates to give more attention to academics as they await to write the national exams that will determine their next level of education,” Masara warned.

He also challenged parents to work closely with their children’s’ learning institutions to enhance good relationship among them and the teachers and to instill discipline in the learners especially following the rise of indiscipline cases that were witnessed in second term which affected learning process in most schools.

“As the year begins let us work together as education stakeholders to ensure we change the narrative of burning school infrastructure by students but to assist the teachers to teach and guide them on the importance and qualities of good citizenship,” Masara pleaded saying the government together with other education stakeholders have been spending a lot of money to build the learners institutions to the position have gotten presently.

His call comes barely a week after the Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magohas called on the residents of Suna West Constituency to make a point of consent rating on development projects as they begin the new year, calling on youths to embrace peace and shun political incitements.
