Parents urged to buy their children basics instead of waiting for govt

Parents have been urged to provide basic materials of learning for their children instead of depending on the government.

Masaba North Sub- County Director of Education (SCDE) Gabriel Ogondo while speaking to parents, teachers and students of Riyabe Secondary School on Thursday, during their prize and thanks giving for the good performance in the 2023 KCSE examinations said the development of education calls for collective responsibly.

He asked students to embrace self-discipline to enable them have focused minds to achieve what they want in life.

“When you have self-discipline it enables you to have peace of mind that motivates you intrinsically to achieve what you want in life,” he said.

He expressed his happiness for the good performance of the school and asked other surrounding institutions to bench mark at the institution.

At the same time, Duke Nyamongo, Riyabe secondary school principal, attributed the upward trend of posting good results to the institution staff hard work as well as the good will from the local leadership and parents’ support.

“We have come this far because of the grace of God and immense support that we received from each of you,” he said.

In 2023 KCSE examinations, the school posted impressive results by sending 159 direct to university out of the total candidature of 206 learners.

During the colourful ceremony, those students who qualified for university were awarded briefcases, laptops and mobile phones while teachers whose subjects improved were also rewarded.
