Parents told to monitor their children during this extreme rainy season

Machakos Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi has advised parents in the county to monitor their children during the ongoing heavy rains across the country.

He also asked parents who live near rivers to be vigilant especially on their children to avoid tragedies.

The deputy governor said parents should know about their children’s whereabouts and what they are up to.

“I ask parents to monitor their children during the ongoing heavy rains. I want all students to go back in school in good health when the schools open,” Mwangangi said on Sunday at Kaiani ABC church in Kathiani Constituency.

He also advised parents in the county to uphold hygiene to reduce chances of being infected with waterborne diseases.

He added that the rainy season is associated with waterborne diseases in some areas across the country due to poor disposal of human waste and climate change.

“I am asking parents to maintain adequate personal and environmental hygiene at all times to prevent waterborne diseases during the current rainy season,” he added.

He also advised parents to treat or boil water before drinking to prevent outbreak of diseases.
