Parents not enrolling their children to secondary school risk arrest

Kitutu Central Sub County Commissioner Mrs Elizabeth Atemi has urged parents to ensure that all 2022 Kenya Primary Certificate of Education (KCPE) candidates enroll to secondary school, failure to which they will face arrest.

Speaking during a public baraza at Kerera village, Atemi said it was every citizen’s responsibility to support the 100 per cent transition from primary to secondary school.

“This means that every parent must take their children to school without failure as required by the law,” she said.

Noting that some parents could not buy school uniforms for their children, she asked school principals to allow Form Ones to use the ones they used in their previous schools as parents save to buy the required uniform.

Concerning disagreements between Principals and parents over alleged poor KCSE examinations results, the Commissioner said that it was the responsibility of communities to support teachers to develop schools.

“Education excellence calls for sober minds with a professional approach towards challenges in order to succeed,” she said.

Atemi asked parents to visit their children’s schools to assist and advise on problems facing them beforehand instead of waiting to point fingers at teachers after examinations results were out.
