Over 87,000 candidates assessed in March-April CBET exams as skills push registers growth

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba, alongside TVET Principal Secretary Dr. Esther Thaara Muoria, officiated the release of the assessment results yesterday morning at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi.

A total of 87,595 candidates were assessed in the March/April 2025 Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) examinations across 251 qualifications—a 33 per cent increase from previous assessments—marking a major leap forward in Kenya’s skills development agenda.

CS Ogamba praised the significant progress made under the CBET model, emphasising its crucial role in preparing young people for the evolving job market.

“A total of 87,595 candidates were assessed across 251 qualifications, a 33 per cent increase from before,” the CS said, highlighting it as a strong indicator of growing public trust in TVET and practical training.

He further reaffirmed the government’s dedication to promoting inclusive education and fostering collaborations with industry players to ensure that Kenya’s workforce remains agile and future-ready.

“The CS reaffirmed the State’s commitment to expanding access to training opportunities, promoting gender equity, and strengthening partnerships with industry stakeholders to ensure that Kenya’s workforce remains competitive, innovative, and future-ready.,” Ogamba said.
