West Pokot County has disbursed Ksh 500 Million bursaries to benefit over 53, 000 needy students and alleviate the education across the county.

The bursary which is the county’s initiative to boost education saw students across various institutions, including high schools, universities, and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges  get funds to keep them in schools amid capitation delay.

The bursary program, led by Bursary Director Andrew Kasiltich and overseen by County Executive Committee (CEC) Member for Education and Technical Training, Rebecca Kide, aims to alleviate the financial burden many families bear in educating their children.

Governor Kachapin emphasized that investing in education is crucial for the region’s development, stating, “For Pokot to develop, we must invest in the minds of our people.” The program prioritizes the most vulnerable students, including orphans, children from banditry-prone areas, and families without stable income.
