Muraga Technical Training Institute (TTI) in Tharaka Nithi County recently held its first graduation ceremony, churning out over 480 graduands into the job market.
The pioneer graduates received certificates and diplomas in Agriculture, Electrical Engineering, Institutional Management, Building and Civil Engineering, Business Management, and Applied Sciences.
Chief Guest, TVET Principal Secretary Dr. Esther Muoria, assured the graduating class that the skills they had acquired were in high demand both locally and internationally.
Muoria stressed the need for the TTI to intensify the marketing of offered courses to attract better funding for equipment and other infrastructure from the government and donors.
She lauded the enthusiasm the Board of Governors, parents, staff and other stakeholders had exhibited in supporting the institution’s success.
Muoria urged the institution to ensure that trainees and the neighbouring community are fully trained and equipped with the digital skills available under the already-in-operation Virtual Digital Instruments (VDIs).
The skills gained from the VDIs, she affirmed, will enable beneficiaries to access decent online jobs, disclosing that some trainees from TVET institutions were earning up to Ksh26,000 a week.
However, she warned that with the attractive incomes, high levels of discipline remained key to building a good career online.
