Homabay County police have lauded the public for volunteering information to assist them in curbing crime in the region.

Their praise came after the arrest of primary and secondary school leavers who were found partying at a private house at night.

The minors who ranged between the age of 12 and 17 years had assembled in the house by 11.00 am playing music at full blast on Saturday.

The noise caused concern from the public who tipped the Assistant Chief of Kajwach Kawere Sub-location Isaih Ondoro.

He alerted his counterpart Fredrick Okeyo from Kamnyoro sub location to reinforce him for the raid of the clandestine partying house.

The two chiefs mobilised the community policing teams. They stormed the house and arrested the 36 teenagers but four of them escaped narrowly after jumping over the fence.

“Majority of them are KCPE candidates while others are form four candidates”, said the chief.

The police from Ringa came to the house and confiscated two motorcycles that were used to ferry the minors to the venue.

Other items collected from the house, included empty bottles of beer and unused condoms in seven packets.

The minors were detained at Ringa police station for further interrogation and recording of statements.

Ringa Station Police Officer John Oduor confirmed the arrest.

He said he had informed their parents who had commended the step his officers took to net the minors.

Oduor thanked the public adding that the care and guidance of the youth is a collective responsibility.
