Over 12 Kamasare Secondary students hospitalized after a road accident in Nyamira

More than 12 St Joseph’s Kamasare Secondary School students are nursing injuries at Okita Nursing Home as well as Nyamira Teaching and Referral Hospital after their bus was involved in road accident.

The Nyamira based institution bus is reported to have been involved in an accident after it got a puncture on the rear wheel at the Nyamira-Kisumu junction branching to Oyugis town.

According to the police report, the bus is said to have lost control and rolled over several times injuring the students.

As per the police, the bus had on board 41 students and four teachers when the accident occurred at around 6:30 am on Sunday, July 14, 2024.

Students with minor injuries are admitted at Okita Nursing Home in Kadongo town, Homa Bay County as those with severe injuries were referred to Nyamira Teaching and Referral Hospital for advanced medical attention.

The bus was towered to Othoro police station for inspection and  further investigation on the cause of the accident.
