In a transformative initiative aimed at bridging the digital divide, more than 100 youth from humble backgrounds in Matungulu Constituency have successfully completed a comprehensive computer training course.

The programme, spearheaded by the office of the Woman Representative Joyce Kamene under the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF), equipped them with essential computer skills, setting them on a path to economic empowerment.

The two-month course, which focused on various computer packages, was conducted in Nguluni location.

It marked the second phase of the initiative, with the first group having already benefited from similar training in Donyo Sabuk area.

The programme’s primary objective is to make the youth computer literate, thus enhancing their chances of securing employment or even starting their own businesses in the burgeoning digital economy.

Joyce Kamene, who has been a vocal advocate for youth empowerment, highlighted the significance of this training in today’s job market.

“In a world that is increasingly digital, having computer skills is no longer optional; it’s a necessity. We want our youth to be prepared not just to find jobs, but also to create them. This programme is about giving them the tools they need to succeed,” she said.

In addition to the computer training, Kamene also encouraged the trainees to form groups and take advantage of funds available from her office to start businesses.
