Over 100 CBC classrooms constructed in Kisii County, Director says

The government has constructed 102 Competence Based Curriculum (CBC) classrooms In Kisii County in readiness for the accommodation of Junior Secondary Schoool learners.

Speaking to residents at different schools during the inspection of the completed classrooms on Friday, Kisii County Director of Education Pius Ngoma commended the good work which he said was in compliance with the guidelines provided.

Director Ngoma said that the construction had reached 85 percent towards its completion.

“The completion of these classrooms is a testimony that the government is determined to see the CBC system succeed in the country,” he said.

He asked parents and education stakeholders to stop criticizing the system adding that it is solution oriented.

“This system is good because it allows space for the learner to discover their talents so as to be able to pursue the career of their own choice,” he said.

The Director said that CBC also encouraged parents to be active partners in supervising the progress of their children.

On the same breadth, he asked parents to provide an enabling learning environment for their children at home.

“Days have gone when parents provided food, clothes and shelter alone to their children but it is now a call for them to be actively involved in the betterment of their children”s education.” he advised.

He castigated those who called for the abolishment of the Curriculum saying that they should accept changes in education in order to cope with global dynamics.
