Outgoing MP proud of raising education standards

By Enock Okong’o

The immediate former MP for Bomachoge Borabu Constituency Prof Zadoc Abel Ogutu has said that he is satisfied with the manner in which he raised the standards of the education sector in his constituency during his tenure.

Prof Ogutu was addressing his supporters at his Magenche home shortly after the announcement of  the parliamentary election results where he lost to his closest opponent Eng. Obadiah Barongo in the hotly contested seat among 15 aspirants.

Prof Ogutu reviewed his achievements which he lived to see the fruits with pride and challenged his successor to continue with the legacy he had started.

Ogutu said that he found only 341 students in the University from the area when he took the leadership mantle from the late Joel Onyancha but within a period of five years he had increased the number to 1,776 students.

“This was possible because I encouraged systematic increment of education bursary awards to bright but needy students. This pushed the constituency’s KCSE performance from 8th position to top position among the county’s nine constituencies in 2021,” he said.

Prof  Ogutu who is a reknowned scholar in the Geography and Enviromental Science revealed that in the latest allocation of  bursary funds, his NG- CDF allocated 40.1 million to 1301 applicants who will join various local Universities later this year.
