Orphanage school director arrested over alleged defilement of pupil in Kisii

The director of St. Peters Orphanage School in Nyamarambe Sub County in Kisii County has been arrested over alleged defilement of a school pupil.

According to Nyamarambe police Sub county Commander John Okorwa, the director called the minor into his office where he committed the alleged defilement.

The assaulted minor informed villagers after the act, who took her to Nyamarambe Health centred on Tuesday where she was proved sexually abused.

Education News learnt that the girl was transferred from the health centre for advanced medication in another hospital yet to be established.

It is reported that the villagers alerted the police of the possible incident who immediately launched a manhunt for the suspect and arrested him.

The suspect who was identified as Johnson Otara was booked for appearance at Etago law courts to answer the allegations on child abuse and defilement.

“The child has testified how she suffered pain from the man who allegedly defiled her and now we have done our part and handed the case to the court to find the truth.” Said the police commander.

Okorwa condemned the heinous act and said that his office will leave no stone unturned concerning the investigation to do the abused child justice.

He said that the abuse could be a pointer of many unreported child abuse incidences taking place in the region and asked the public to be alert in safeguarding the welfare of children against sexual predators.

He asked parents to sensitize their growing adolescence girls on the tricks used by sexual hunters to trap them and learn to avoid them in advance.

In another crime incident, the police from Kisii Central are looking for a woman who reportedly killed her 5 year old grade one child because she did not want him to stay with her separated husband.

According to the residents, the woman came to their home, which she had abandoned for a while and found the child playing with other children.

She asked the child to follow though declined, prompting her to hit him on the head with blunt object killing him instantly.

Area chief Elijah Ong’era confirmed the strange killing saying that the deceased’s body was taken to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary for postmortem and further police investigation.

According to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital CEO Marita Oimeke, the deceased died of internal bleeding caused by several beatings on the head.

He said it was a case under police investigation and he could not divulge much information surrounding it.

“I will only comment further than that after completion of comprehensive investigation from the police.” He said
