An Organization championing for peace in Baringo County has embarked on massive campaign that aims at preaching peace in schools.

The Organization dubbed ‘Pockets of Hope and Peace’ has vowed to promote education and fully teach students on the usefulness of peaceful coexistence.

The organization’s patron, Ms. Sharon Keter, while launching the initiative at Solian Girls Secondary School decried the number of school going children in insecure borders who die due to state of lawlessness brought by bandits.

She said a number of pupils have missed schools because of frequent attacks in the area despite efforts by government to bring normalcy proving futile.

The Baringo County Assembly member reiterated that her organization was confident to realize elusive peace following a raft of measures it has put in place to restore hope.

‘‘Our rallying call as an organization is to teach on usefulness of peace through school going girls in affected communities spreading the message of good will. We are certain that the association will realize hope and share love with victims of banditry in volatile regions, ’’ said Ms. Keter.

The MCA who is also a lawyer affirmed that her organization was advocating to end bad cultural practices such as Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and early forced marriages blamed for majority of young girls abandoning school.

Through ‘Pockets of Hope and Peace’, she said, some students from needy background will benefit from a kitty to facilitate their stay in schools across the country from the little amount given by the organization.

Ms. Keter however said at least ten schools identified in insecurity prone areas will benefit annually once the program commence.

Phoebe Njoga, a member of the organization, attested that they are destined to impact lives of communities through their efforts to address continuance in education and stability in peace.

Ms. Njoga noted that there was urgent need to roll out the program from schools to avert the vices.

The Programs Coordinator Ms. Julie Atieno and Phoebe Njoga noted that there is urgent need to roll out the program and in earnest to embrace education to transform them.

The duo assured the students that the steadiest way the society can prosper was through education, which is considered as an equalizer.
